GREENCO Researchers Publish Studies on Sustainable Construction Materials and Waste Valorisation
Two scientific publications by researchers associated with the GREENCO project address important challenges in sustainable construction materials, material performance and the circular economy.
The first article, “Effect of the Titanium-Dioxide Addition on the Structural, Dielectric, and Mechanical Properties of Different Cement-Based Mortars with Corundum Aggregate”, by Anja Terzić, Vesna Paunović and Jovica Stojanović, was published in Construction and Building Materials, Volume 412 (2024). The study investigates how titanium dioxide (TiO₂) additions influence the structural, dielectric and mechanical properties of cement-based mortars, contributing to research into the optimisation of construction material performance.
The second article, “Reapplication Potential of Historic Pb–Zn Slag with Regard to Zero Waste Principles”, by Dragan Radulović, Anja Terzić, Jovica Stojanović, Vladimir Jovanović, Dejan Todorović and Branislav Ivošević, was published in Sustainability, Volume 16, Issue 2 (2024). The research explores the potential for recovering valuable metals from historic lead–zinc slag and reusing the remaining material in construction products, supporting resource efficiency and circular economy principles.
Both publications contribute to the scientific knowledge underpinning more sustainable construction practices, from improving the properties of cement-based materials to exploring opportunities for reusing industrial waste as a secondary raw material. These topics align with GREENCO’s commitment to advancing education and knowledge transfer for the green transformation of the construction sector.
