On 22 November 2025, teachers from the Zagreb Construction Technical School (Graditeljska tehnička škola Zagreb – GTŠ), a GREENCO project partner, participated in the workshop “Design and Construction with Straw Panels”, held at the Cultural and Tourism Centre in Bistra, Croatia.
The workshop introduced participants to the EcoCocon straw-panel construction system, covering its structural principles, the properties of wall panels, project design and preparation, and the interpretation of architectural details in sustainable construction. Participants also explored the integration of building services into timber construction, compared EcoCocon with other structural systems, and learned about public procurement, technical specifications, the EU Taxonomy and ESG standards.
The training strengthened teachers’ knowledge of sustainable construction systems and provided practical insights that can support the integration of environmentally responsible building methods into vocational education and training.
The workshop was led by architect Marina Zajec, with support from the Croatian Chamber of Architects.
