Inspirational technical visit to Gnezdo, Ljubljana and Innorenew Center, Izola, Slovenia

The next generation of students on the Green Building course had the opportunity to visit two inspirational organisations in Slovenia: the private company Gnezdo in Ljubljana and the public research institute InnoRenew in Izola. Gnezdo specialises in building residential houses using sustainable construction materials and systems. At the InnoRenew centre, students attended lectures on wood durability and sustainability, followed by a guided tour of the laboratories. After the visit, the students took part in a participatory workshop organised by researchers at the InnoRenew centre. The purpose of the visit was to familiarise students with materials that have a lower environmental impact, as well as with the directions in which engineering practice is developing towards more sustainable materials and buildings.
